I had a client call me today asking when the whole mortgage reform thing was going to take place. I informed him that I do not know, as currently it is all just talk. He pressed me further wanting to know more details and again I told him I would have details when shit was finalized and had been passed by the House/Senate/Jesus/whomever, now please do me a favor and hang up.
He apparently didn't like that too much (why I do not know because honestly- we know nothing!) so had his wife call and try to bitch at me. That failed miserably because we all know you shouldn't play games with those who can play them better, and when she tried to be all shady about her reason for calling I told her that I knew she was calling for the same reason her lovely husband just called and nothing had changed in the past 10 minutes and we still knew nothing. NOTHING. She asked me to please call her when we did know something. I told her sure- although she shouldn't sit by the phone for that one. Obama can make a speech about shitting gold coins and passing out free kittens and everyone can get excited all they want, but until Congress gives him permission to squeeze that out, ain't a damn thing gonna happen. This fact does not stop our clients from getting their panties all wadded up and thinking I haven't a clue what I'm talking about. Actually, I don't - BECAUSE NOTHING IS GOING DOWN RIGHT NOW. If you'll read the first line of paragraph four, you shall see "While still voluntary..." and litte pertaining directly to bankrutpcy other than "But the administration is also wielding a big stick. It will work with Congress to amend bankruptcy laws to allow judges to modify mortgages, a step community advocates say is badly needed but that the financial industry abhors." and a couple other snippets about the same thing, giving judges the power to modify mortgage rates. If that isn't enough for you, here is the text of what was said today. Have fun with that, kids:

So you hear this. You call me. Why? Because you think me and Pres'O are tight like the Smiths and Cruises? I don't get it. Nothing is set in stone. No dates for anything have been given. You have nothing concrete - only a promise. Now I am not coming against President Obama at all on this, I'm only saying that today he gave a speech about plans he has. THE END. Don't get snitty with me when I say I know nothing else about said plans that were spoken an hour ago, please. I do not appreciate it. I do not take so kindly to it. Be smart and remember a speech is just words, plans are just plans, nothing is done until it actually is. Now go to the restroom, pick that wedgie, and have a cupcake, puddin'. You'll feel much better once you do.
